Language combination:
- English to Chinese
- Dutch to Chinese
- German to Chinese
As you see, I endorse translating solely into one's native language. Why? On the linguistic level, translator has an intuitive knowledge of the morphology, semantics, syntax and lexicology of his/her native tongue. On the cultural level, they handle elements as proverbs, idioms, metaphors etc. with more success. Of course, you may find translators who translate into a second or foreign language, yet it's quite rare. And if those deliver excellent works like a native, I applaud them.
